About the Academy

Launched in June 2014, the CultureHive Digital Marketing Academy is a seven-month project to foster digital marketing innovation in the cultural sector.

We are creating an environment in which participants can take an experimental, evidence-based approach to digital marketing, and where they can share their processes and outcomes with the whole sector.

Leading marketers from organisations across England have been selected as Digital Marketing Academy fellows. They will work on 20 experiments – 14 as individuals, and 12 as joint fellows. They are being partnered with highly experienced digital mentors from around the world – a mix of marketers, mavericks and technologists who all have a passion for developing audiences.

And because the Digital Marketing Academy is entirely online, there are no training rooms, no travelling and no extra expense.

CultureHive Best Practice is managed by the Arts Marketing Association, in partnership with The Audience Agency, part of Arts Council England’s Audience Focus programme, supported by Lottery funding.

Experimental approach

Over seven months, 20 forward-thinking cultural marketers will carry out a series of work-based digital marketing experiments.

A supportive environment

Expert digital mentors from around the world will help the fellows harness the creative strengths of their organisations.

Benefits for the whole cultural sector

The processes and outcomes of the experiments will be shared in order to benefit everybody in the cultural sector.

We’re creating a virtual space for the fellows to discuss strategies and successes, and explore challenges and failures in a supportive and creative environment. The Academy will be a catalyst for new thinking and new collaborations, and will give fellows and their organisations the support to innovate by sharing knowledge and sharing risk.
