I have worked in the Tyneside Cinema marketing department for almost six years, three as Publicity and Press Officer, three as Marketing Manager.
Tyneside Cinema is an independent cinema in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is the city’s only full-time independent cultural cinema, specialising in the screening of independent and world cinema from across the globe.
A big part of my job has been to find ways of developing the cinema’s audience, not only for the film programme, but for its digital art programme. Digital marketing has played a big part in this, including the cinema’s bespoke website, an email database with over 44,000 subscribers, and almost 40,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter.
