Thanks for these thoughts Sara. As a freelancer on the DMA with multiple projects and deadlines your tips are a good reminder of things we should all be doing to avoid burn out. I recently took annual leave for a week abroad and decided for the first time to leave my smartphone at home. No social media, no checking emails. It was awesome. And it surprised me how easy it was to let go – but moreso how much more I was able to relax, refresh and sleep earlier. As a marketer and researcher I’m a big fan and heavy user of social media, plus running a business means I need to be on it when it comes to my emails. But stepping back for a week has made me rethink my consumption habits, so that I get a better balance.
