Justine: “After completing a Degree and Masters Degree in English, I travelled the world and moved to Australia, living and working in Sydney. On returning to the UK I started my career in marketing, working within the retail sector, where I specialised in creating print and point of sale for over 340 shops nationwide and later moved in to a business-to-business marketing position. I moved into the arts and became a theatre marketer in 2004 and was responsible for leading on all angles of marketing from strategy development to budget, PR, print, advertising and online marketing.

“In 2010 I moved into my current position as Marketing Manager at Motionhouse, one the UK’s leading dance theatre companies. As a touring company our digital marketing strategy has become increasing important in order for us to build an online community, not only as a way of communicating with our audiences all year around, but as a way of engaging with them, providing them with access to our work and creating customer loyalty.

“We have witnessed great success in reaching out to a larger online community, with our social media followers growing by over 850% in the last four years, but there’s always more we can do, and I’m excited about this opportunity to take part in Culturehive’s Digital Marketing Academy.”

Lara has been the Marketing Officer at Motionhouse since 2012. After completing a BA in Theatre Studies in Bristol in 2007, Lara went on to work freelance in Marketing for small scale touring theatre production companies, internal communications in a retail environment, for a large scale catering company which provided bars and staff for large UK music festivals/events and also for several TV production companies.

Lara was part of the original team behind a Digital BAFTA and Emmy Award winning TV show that used social media to integrate online input from viewers live within broadcasts, as well as advertising to great success other online interactivity during weekly prime time live broadcasts; this was the first show of its kind.

Lara continues to write freelance for digital publications in her spare time and is passionate about exploring new avenues of online communications and innovation.
